Singapore NLP Practitioner Course

nlp_techniques_nlp_anchoringThere are many reasons why people want to learn NLP. Some people learn NLP to cope better with themselves, others learn NLP to communicate better with other people, and some learn NLP to solve problems. Personally, I decided to learn NLP to better manage my states and emotions.

When I first attended Jacky’s NLP Certified Practitioner Course in Singapore a few years ago, I was introduced to many powerful NLP techniques. Some of the techniques include rapport building, swish pattern, parts integration etc. Amongst all techniques, I have to admit that I love anchoring most because it works especially well for me in overcoming my negative states. Through the use of NLP anchoring technique, I could elicit any positive states I desire such as confidence, energy, power etc in the blink of an eye.

What Is NLP Anchoring?

NLP anchoring is a process of influencing how a particular stimulus will influence someone's state of mind so as to create a new response to a stimulus. As such, the more consistently someone experiences such stimuli, the more that pattern will happen in the future.

For instance, have you ever heard your favourite song from the radio, and that leads you to remember a joyful occasion? This is possible because these sounds are auditory anchors that trigger sensory representations (pictures, sounds, smells, tastes, feelings) inside your mind and elicit certain emotions. Thus, the longer you listen to the song, the higher the intensity of the joy will be.

Next, let me share with you 2 kinds of NLP anchoring techniques you can try practicing and benefitting in your life. They are known as the basic anchor and stacking anchors.

Basic NLP Anchoring

Basic anchoring comes in 5 simple steps.

The first step is to think of a positive state that you’d wish to attain e.g Feeling loved.

Next, recall a past, vivid experience where you were feeling extremely loved. Following that, apply the anchor at the peak of the state.

The anchor could be a visual anchor; it could be an auditory anchor, a kinaesthetic anchor, or even all three combined.

The fourth step is that you must repeat this process a few more times. This will be followed by a “break state”.

Finally, you want to test the anchor to make sure it works. I will highly recommend anyone who is new to NLP to master the basic anchor since it is simple and straightforward.

Stacking NLP Anchoring

Compared to basic anchor, stacking anchors is a more powerful technique.

It requires you to think of 4 to 5 states that you’d wish to attain eg. Feeling loved, feeling powerful, feeling joy, feeling excited.

Be sure to anchor all the states on the same spot e.g. at the knuckles.  Again, apply the anchor only when it is about to hit the peak. In the case of stacking anchors, there’s no need for you to do a break state.

You should stack up the different anchors continuously.  Finally, think of a time when you want this anchor and trigger all states at the same time.
